A Responsible Choice

We are committed to ensuring that the operations we lead and the products we bring to the world are done so responsibly.

Fish in, fish out <1

Fish in, fish out <1

Fish in, fish out <1

This means that for every pound of salmon we produce, we use less than one pound of wild fish. We achieve this by using a carefully balanced and sustainable diet that includes sustainable algae oil, which is a rich and natural source of omega-3 fatty acids, reducing the pressure on wild fish populations and ensuring that our salmon is a responsible choice for consumers who care about the environment.

Raised Without Antibiotics

Raised Without Antibiotics

We believe in responsible farming practices, which is why we do not use antibiotics in our salmon farming. Instead, we rely on natural methods to keep our fish healthy, such as a carefully controlled diet, and rigorous monitoring to prevent diseases. This ensures that our salmon is free from harmful substances, and that it grows naturally, resulting in a healthier and more delicious fish.

COMMUNITY IMPACT

We believe in the power of community and supporting our employees.

When Laguna Blanca was first established by Blumar, fostering a strong community connection was a paramount commitment. Based in Magallanes, where the salmon are raised, we have actively engaged in various activities that contribute to this bond. Our collaboration with Liceo María Behety de Menéndez, initiated in 2018, aims to enhance the aquaculture education provided to students. Through informative talks by our industry professionals and visits to our farming centers, we empower and cultivate qualified human capital for aquaculture companies in the Magallanes Region.

Over the years, this partnership has flourished, providing students with additional tools such as an ROV management course and food safety training, enriching their knowledge and expanding their employment opportunities within the aquaculture sector upon graduation.

Moreover, we offer students the opportunity to gain practical experience by conducting professional internships at our cultivation centers. Some of these talented individuals have demonstrated exceptional results, leading to their employment as center operators. Their continued growth and progress have enabled them to advance as center assistants and beyond.

In recognition of our efforts, Blumar’s Magallanes subsidiary received the esteemed AquaSur International Fair award in 2018. This prestigious accolade celebrates initiatives that benefit the communities in which the southern Chilean salmon industry thrives.

At Laguna Blanca, we are proud of our enduring commitment to both aquaculture excellence and the well-being of our community. Together, we are shaping a brighter future for the industry and fostering sustainable growth in our region.
